phil goes green and walks to the office

The magazine interview in the previous post (scroll down) quotes me as saying "the new system of park connectors means – in theory – that I could walk the 9 km from my house to my office entirely surrounded by nature, which is impressive for any city". This morning I decided to put the theory to the test. Surely the boss would understand me arriving late because I decided to go green and walk to the office? It wasn't actually 9 km, probably only 6 or 7 km, but the paths were winding and steep (for me!) so it still took me 2 hours. I arrived in the office at 11.30 am. Fortunately I am the boss and today is a public holiday; still, I don't think I'll do this on a regular basis. (I took a taxi home!)
My route took me from home in Jalan Hang Jebat, over the Malaysia railway line, through Alexandra Hospital's morgue, over the AYE expressway, onto the new canopy walk from HortPark to Preston Road, through Telok Blangah Hill Park, down Henderson Waves, through Mount Faber Park, down Mount Faber Road and Temenggong Road and into the back of my office. A great walk and I was impressed with the new canopy walks and park connectors. There were some impressive views south out to sea and north into the city. Along the way I saw one eagle, difficult to ID but I'll hazard a guess it was a dark morph Changeable Hawk-Eagle.
