Singapore Grand Prix
Oct 27th, 2008 by islandhippy
I attended all three days of the Singapore Grand Prix and loved it. With a walkabout ticket I had access to just over a half of the track so I wandered around looking for the best spot to catch the actual race. In the end I plumped for a spot on Esplanade Drive standing a couple of meters from a straight and facing a large screen. I gravitated between the Double O beer tent, the Hard Rock burger tent and the track. Pretty good but next time I'll get a seat in a stand; every time I went to grab another drink I lost my place trackside.
Sandy joined me for the actual race on the Sunday. This may have been the greatest sporting event in Singapore's history but that didn't stop Sandy from checking out every single food stall first, buying enough food for the whole McLaren team then having a private picnic in the middle of the crowds of spectators.
Between races there were bands playing from all over the world, Brazilian samba dancers, endless merchandising tents flogging expensive T-shirts, and of course there were the beer tents.
