Alternative news sources

Today I received an email from Guy Kawasaki—yes, the Guy Kawasaki (Mac users will know him)—saying that islandhippy is one of the 40 blogs featured on the Singapore page of Alltop, the online news site. According to Kawasaki, Alltop is an “online magazine rack of popular topics. We update the stories every hour. Pick a topic by searching, news category, or name, and we’ll deliver it to you 24 x 7."
I can't think what useful news about Singapore readers are going to glean from this site, apart from that which is associated with Olive's diapers.
While we're on the subject of news sources, let me introduce you to NewspaperDirect. NewspaperDirect is, according to the website, "the world leader in multi-channel newspaper and magazine content distribution and monetization." Which, in English, means that through a network of printers worldwide, you can subscribe to almost any major paper from any country and receive it in any other country on the same day. Live in Reykjavik and want to read the Dripping Springs Century News from Texas? No problem. Not the best example, I'm not sure what shape the Icelandic printers are in.
Anyway, the Saturday edition of The Times from the UK lands on my doorstep at lunchtime the same day in Singapore. That means I receive it even before it's delivered to households in the UK! I know I could read it all online, but you can't (safely) play with your laptop (or desktop) in the bath. The Saturday Times (minus some of the mags) runs to more than 100 pages and takes the whole weekend to finish. The designated Singapore printer for NewspaperDirect also happens to be the printer I use to print most of Monsoon's books, so at least they know where to find me.
