window grilles
Aug 18th, 2009 by islandhippy
We've finally had window grilles installed on all our windows to stop Livvy from taking the quick way out of the flat. It's only really been a worry in the bedrooms where Olive climbs on the beds and can open the windows — in the past we've kept the bedroom doors shut but she can now open the doors too!
We didn't want HDB-style aluminium grilles and couldn't find any old-style wrought iron ones but luckily the landlord's contractor had recently installed wooden safety grilles in some black-and-whites (the old colonial houses) and decided he could do the same here. The grilles only extend a third of the way up the windows but even so Sandy says they make her feel a little claustrophobic.
I think it's a fantastic solution and it looks great. The geometric lines give the room an Art Deco feel; the grilles remind me of railings on an ocean liner (except we seem to be sailing through a jungle).

hey guys, they look great! I’ve been having my mom & MIL nagging me on grilles too…this is a great solution! Can i get the contact from you pls?
