can you overfeed a toddler?

That's my question. Is Olive eating too much? This morning I realised she ate more than me for breakfast and she's only 16 months old!

Olive's breakfast
That's a lot of food for a very small person. Even her 1/2 slice of homemade bread is larger than a slice of commercial sliced bread. Perhaps she's still making up for England, where she lost a lot of weight when she was hospitalized. I've checked out a few websites and they all seem to suggest that you can't really overfeed a toddler, they should self-regulate and will stop when they're full — Olive does stop eventually although it's difficult to know when breakfast ends and lunch begins (with elevenses along the way) — and as long as they're eating healthy rather than junk then it should be fine.
Olive prefers to feed herself now and is pretty handy with a spoon. In the morning she fetches her own cushion from the sofa and places it on the floor then stands there waiting for her bottle of milk to be delivered. After she's finished she'll take the bottle back to the kitchen if prompted. When it comes to the Weetabix, she prefers to feed herself as she can shovel in a massive amount on the spoon each time. If Daddy tries to feed her a small spoonful she shakes her head and wails "noooooo" before taking the spoon and piling on more mush. I guess we could slow her down by giving her chopsticks but I reckon she'd just ditch them and revert to hands.
