Thanks for the comment, Mum. We planned to tell the bus aunty that in fact she could pass Olive sweets so as not to exclude her but we hoped she could put the sweets in Olive’s pocket. However, yesterday when we collected Olive she was already eating a sweet so the bus aunty had not only ignored our original request she had even unwrapped the sweet and put it in Olive’s mouth. We also found a chocolate bar in Olive’s school bag from her form teacher and today she returned home with two more chocolate bars in her bag, origins unknown. We’ll leave it for the moment and see what happens over the next few weeks.

I feel you just have to accept the sweet treat but if she asks for another when home just tell her only one allowed a day and she has had it – this leaves it open for the weekend. If you make a fuss Olive will think sweets are very special and binge if she finds any. I have to say we at boarding school were allowed one out of our tuck after lunch and it didnt do too much harm.

Oh Olive looks absolutely adorable in her new school uniform! Yikes about the bus auntie though. Poppy loves her new school and so do I (let’s leave the lunch menu out of the conversation for a while), and next week, she’ll hop on the school bus as well! Wish us luck!

I should probably just hang a black plastic bag full of water out of the bathroom window to heat up during the day then shower and shave at night.

Getting expensive bills for hot water in the tropics is absurd, unless you’re running a Roman-style bathhouse. Clearly, you need a new unit.
